our day in photos.

0723 1
we dined - rather i dined - for lunch on the deck and miss c provided my entertainment along with her furry brother who she has instense staring contests with on a daily basis.  we all seemed to be in a better mood than monday because someone - coughcoughbabygirlcough - took her typical 30 minute morning nap.

0723 2
another shot from lunch - just love those eyes.  excuse the boogie - miss c and daddy have been sniffing from something this week.  luckily this mama hasn't caught anything since she's the caretaker of all creatures great and small at this address.

0723 3
the bib says it all.  a gift from jen when miss c was born.  bibs must be worn pretty much at all times when she's upright as she drools like no other.  we had taken a walk to pick up our veggie box + eggs for the week and i was trying to put everything away.  so much yummy stuff in our box this week.  loving the farm that i switched to this year and even sent farmer andy - yes, that's our farmers name - an e-mail tonight thanking him for all the goodies.  especially the chocolate chocolate chip zucchini bread recipe that he shared and i made tonight.

and my new favorite photo of these two.  daddy just got home and everyone - mommy included - is happy to see him.

the last one before thirty.

0721

today was my 29th birthday.  and it will be for about another 50 minutes.  i can't say it was the best day ever, but it wasn't the worst either.  someone decided that nap time was truly optional today which caused a big kink in my plans for the day as i had a lot on my plate.  work.  trying to recover from a day trip to chicago on saturday and a bbq with neighbors last night.  making dinner for another resident and his family who just welcomed a new little one into their lives.  you know.

opened gifts late tonight with the help of the non nap taker.  love that the people i love really get me.  my sister was clever and got me the books i had noted in my list over there on the right.  now i can make fabulous martha cookies whenever i'd like.  hopefully they turn out better than the cupcakes i attempted to make from one of her recipes yesterday.  martha had never led me astray.  shocking.  some new knitting books.  the most fabulous hoops and yoyo card that has them talking when you open it.  i'll likely wear it out as it makes me laugh hysterically.  and that's not a good sounding laugh either.  money to go buy myself some desperately needed clothes.  a new sassy apron.  two animals for my christmas nativity set.  and from baby girl and my fabulous husband, a new xm for my car.  andy gave me my first xm for my birthday four or so years ago.  can't live without it.  the new one has a color screen and so many cool features.  a fun new toy for my drive into the office and about town.  when i called to activate it, even the xm guy on the phone was gushing about it.

truly happy with where i am at this moment.  fantastic friends, a loving family complete with an adorable baby girl and of course, furry boy, and a job that i truly enjoy.  i consider myself truly blessed.

sounds like.

in our house, we say these new noises of hers - granted their happy noises - sound like a sick or dying bird.  they're hysterical.  the lighting is bad as it was last night and she was on the floor in the living room rolling about, but it's funny nonetheless.

chewing on sunshine.

0717 c

around here we don't walk on sunshine, we chew on it.  or at least miss c does.  the exersaucer has taken up residence in the kitchen/dining room for when i'm trying to complete some daily chores and the sun has become the toy of choice to gum while in it.  loves that thing.

you know what i love?  a fixed computer.  a big thank you to that fabulous husband of mine who somehow figured out why all of a sudden my desktop wouldn't connect to the internet.  so frustrating.  especially when both of our laptops and my work phone would.  a little google search and we're as good as new.

other things i love...

ChicagoViewPrintF8

this lovely canvas of our favorite city in our living room, displacing a framed print that i'm not really that fond of but now looks a billion times better in the master bedroom.  [hello run-on sentence.]

MarimekkoWallHangPaarynaF7

and this giant pear wall hanging that i've had my eye on for some time and is now on the wall of my dining room, opposite the funky green wall in my kitchen.

again, props to my husband for hanging these in a timely fashion.

today's achievement.

today the baby girl rolled from back to belly twice in the morning and then from back to belly and then belly to back this evening as she performed for daddy.  the tricks never end with this one i say.

unfortunately, my desktop computer which i normally blog from isn't connecting to the internet at the moment - possibly because andy added additional memory to it yesterday? - thus no photos.  but a reason to blog nonetheless.

catching up.

another busy week.  although when i look back on it, i can't put my finger on what exactly made it busier than most.  just lots going on and trying to stay on top of things, i suppose.

0713 becky

this photo is specifically for my dear friend becky who sent miss c this outfit when she was born.  total baby gap reversible cuteness.  if only terry cloth could look so good on a mama.  comfort at it's finest.  love it.  hoping to cross paths with becky in chicago this coming weekend.  haven't seen her since this time last year.

0713 lindsey

and then there's this photo for aunt lindsey who brought the baby girl this outfit when she was here last weekend.  LOVE it.  all the clothes we have from this store are fabulous.  this is what she wore to the doctor's on wednesday - unfortunately i didn't think to get a shot of her until i was putting her in the car seat to leave the house.  she literally stopped traffic - or all the receptionists - in the lobby in it.  seriously.  they called people from the back to come look at her.  oh yes, i'm a proud mama.  and the headband makes the shots less painful.  as in once it's back on, the pain seems to subside somewhat.  crazy.  speaking of the doctor, she weighed in at 16 pounds, 5 ounces and was 26.13".  a big girl.  like we didn't already know.  i mean, take a look at those legs.

0713 us

and then there's this photo of the two of us after coming home from church.  yep, the headband makes another appearance.  as does  this adorable dress i wish you could see more of that i got off of etsy.  we were catching up with daddy as he was on call yesterday and had just got home minutes before we did.  too bad daddy wasn't in church as his medical services were needed.  during the middle of the sermon, a woman near the front had a medical episode of some sort.  they had to call 911 and the paramedics arrived.  oddly enough, the service continued.  a bit hard to pay attention.  hoping everything is okay with her tonight.

and that brings us to almost the beginning of another week.  time for this mama to get to bed.

four months + the fourth.

0707 4 months

first things first, happy four month birthday to miss baby girl.  today was a bit of a fussy day coming down from a weekend full of over-stimulation.  lots of naps - definitely unusual - and getting back into the routine of things.  can't believe my baby is four months.  she's definitely the life of the party.  think she's figuring it out too.

at four months, camryn :

  • weighs 16 pounds, 5 ounces
  • is 26.13" long
  • sleeps 8-9 hours each night.  bath time is around 10p and lights out around 11p.
  • still isn't much of a napper, although we're now taking all naps in the crib.  a typically nap is 30 minutes on the dot as if she has some sort of internal timer.
  • current nicknames : peepers, peeps, baby girl, miss c
  • continues to be a morning person - always all smiles when i get her from her crib each morning
  • eats every 3 hours
  • enjoys going on walks each evening when the weather and mosquitoes allow
  • drools, drools, drools  - working on some sort of tooth action
  • loves three blankie type toys - monkey, duck and frog
  • loves her exersaucer and jumperoo
  • is like her mama and doesn't really care for socks or shoes now that she knows what it's like to be without them
  • is wearing 3-6 month clothes, although a few 0-3 month things still fit.  her 3-6 month sleepers won't fit much longer as she's too tall
  • reaches out with both hands for your face or any item near her
  • loves the green color of my water bottle that's always near by
  • still is mesmerized by the television
  • loves wearing her headbands and hair bows

and then there was the holiday weekend.  feels like i need another holiday to recover!  lots of fun.  baby girl didn't seem to mind the noise of fireworks whatsoever.  in fact, as we were watching them from our deck, she seemed more mesmerized by the citronella candle trying to keep the bijillion mosquitoes that are around these days at bay.

0707 us

our first family fourth of july.  we went to the zoo in the afternoon - miss c's second trip.  also her second time sleeping through it.  the weather was gorgeous and it wasn't too busy so it was nice to simply wander and look at our favorites.  the seals [my fave] were making odd noises and were quite entertaining.  we also were able to see the polar bear who decided to make an appearance on our second trip by.  yummy snowcones too.  of course miss c had to have a festive outfit for the occasion.

0707 4 dinner

our yummy fourth of july dinner.  bbq chicken with homemade bbq sauce, potato salad, corn on the cob, smores and cherry cheesecake after the fireworks.  andy did a fabulous job grilling everything.  so needing to make everything again soon, although i'm still not sure on my thoughts of the potato salad.

0707 c exersaucer

and then there's this shot of the baby girl that daddy captured yesterday.  open mouth as always.

0707 shades

and then there's miss c looking all sorts of sassy in her new shades that aunt lindsey brought her.  when aunt lindsey visits, spoiling commences.  mommy is happy that miss lindsey's taste in clothes is similar to what she'd pick out for the baby girl.  the girl now has three pair of shades.  love these.

0707 jumperoo

and last but not least, an achievement on her four month birthday.  notice anything missing from this photo?  no pillow!  we can now touch the ground from the jumperoo - let the chaos begin!

busy, busy.

0630 c

so many things to do and yet not enough hours in the day.  what everyone says and i'm just joining the club.  not really just joining, but feel that's all i say lately.  today i finished editing all of june's photos.  bad me for doing them all at once - or rather all weekend.  my camera rolled over 10,000 shots today.  i'm thinking a baby girl had a lot do do with that.  today we spent the end of the work day sitting in front of the open front door - another gorgeous day here.  nice that i have a laptop that i can simply work where she is wanting to hang out.  i have things all over the house so we're not in the same place all the time.  for instance the exersaucer is in the kitchen.  allows me to unload the dishwasher, eat at the dining room table, etc.  she loves that thing.  i'm thinking more than the jumperoo.

speaking of, her newest quirky thing that she started doing today.  tried to capture it on video for andy since he was at work.  she started scrunching up her nose and then breathing really heavy and fast through her nose.  not a clue why she's doing it, but she's amused so whatever.  she's crazy and we love her.  i'll admit it's hysterical though.

had a fantastic weekend.  friday we stayed in and i cooked dinner and we just kind of hung out.  nice to do that as i swear we're never going to have a month spent with just us anytime in the near future.  and our weekends are booked for what seems like an eternity.  saturday was a bbq where miss c got to see her neurosurgery uncles.  cracks me up to see these guys and the ones that love holding her.  she's the only resident baby at the moment so i'm thinking some our living vicariously through us.  you know.  the ones that won't have their first child until their late 30s or early 40s because of the profession they've chosen.  saturday andy and i went out to dinner at this great belgian place downtown and miss c stayed home with the babysitter.  our first date night since she arrived.  love that we love the two girls that watch her and i feel so comfortable leaving her with them.  granted, i missed the girl, but was good for us to enjoy some time out as a couple instead of a mama and daddy.  the restaurant had fabulous food, a great atmosphere and they had live jazz.  perfection.  i already told andy we might have to go back for our anniversary in august.  loved it.

yesterday was a bit of a lazy day.  someone thought getting up at 6:30a on a sunday was a good idea.  after eating, she went back to sleep though.  and then we all overslept and didn't make it to church so we had a pajama day of sorts until we got ready for our ice cream date with another resident and his family.  ironically enough, my friend melissa who i met through scrapbooking, knew the family and said we should be haning out.  we finally got our act together - or rather i did - and had such a good time.  they have the cutest 3 year old twin boys and are expecting their own little girl in a matter of weeks.  had the best peanut butter cookie dough ice cream.  yum.

and now it's trying to plan c's baptism as we were waiting to see when we'd get a new pastor at our church, planning for the 4th and this that and the other thing.  deep breath.

cutting teeth.

0626 tooth

guess who's teething at our house?  no, it's not me - although i am still waiting for my wisdom teeth to come in...  apparently miss c is like her mama in that she likes to multi-task.  rolling over and cutting teeth at the same time.  andy was home with her today and when she was being a little fussy - which honestly never happens - he knew something was up.  we had suspected this was going to happen soon as she'd been drooling like crazy and loves to gum everything in sight including her hand, arm and my shoulder.  i think she just needed some mama time when i got home as she took a nap as i held her and then was all smiles when she woke up and we went for a quick walk before being taken away by the nasty mosquitoes.  unfortunately we missed meeting up with some new friends this evening, but are hoping to reschedule for an ice cream date this weekend.

so it looks like we're on to a fun new adventure.  i tell her we don't need any of this tooth business and that she can just be a baby forever, but obviously my words are falling on deaf ears.

tummy to back.

the newest happening at our house.  someone is getting way too big, way too fast.  she rolled - or as i say, flopped - from tummy to back once saturday morning and i considered it a fluke.  she didn't know what to think of it.  and then last night she did it four times, so i'm giving her the benefit of the doubt.  sadly, she wouldn't perform on command for daddy when he got home last night but since mommy got it on video, all is well.  only wish it wasn't so dark.

ignore the jabbering mama in the video.  i was talking to my mom on the phone and also providing the morale support.
