who else can say their employer has provided them for formal wear to sport in the office? i didn't think so.
tuesday i headed into the office expecting to tackle a mountain of tasks for our 10th birthday crop this saturday. instead, i was greeted by this sign :
that's right. a birthday dance. there were also two other signs. one that read "formal wear required" and another that said, "no formal wear? go to the girls locker room". and the bathroom had a sign on it that read girls locker room. and there were dresses waiting to be put on.
believe me, i had no idea what on earth was going on or what shenanigans were about to take place but knew we'd be having a good time. that's always the case.
instead of what i thought i was going to be doing, i spent the day playing rock band, mario cart, mario party and a little rummy. and i also did the macarena and hokey pokey. nice, eh?
and yes, i expect all the cool kids to be following my fashion forward appearance of stripes under their formal wear.
someone was feeling a bit under the weather today. we knew something must be up as she really had a fitful time sleeping last night. she woke up with a runny nose and you could tell she wasn't feeling 100% although she acted like she was at 98% for most of the day. here she is enjoying her first tastes of toast. tasty.
and when you aren't feeling well, what else could brighten your day than a visit from the mailman delivering packages? i had someone on etsy make her a patty the pig puppet - her favorite from sprout's sharing show. now this mama can be patty all the live long day. i do have most of her skits memorized at this point.
here's to hoping that tomorrow's nose is at a jogs pace instead of a full out run.
you know the kind. nothing spectacular happend, but it was a good weekend nonetheless. lots of family time, even though daddy was on call and had to go into the hospital a few times.
friday we got to see miss josie. these two are exactly two weeks + 1 hour apart. hard to believe that this time last year josie's mama and i were still in prenatal swim class and getting ready for this wild ride. this year, i'll see her next week at the two peas birthday crop. i'm sure we'll be working on some baby pages.
the bee c's nana and papi got her for christmas is becoming more and more popular. the past few days she's been pushing it around as she crawled or walked behind it. the girl is getting crazy courageous about walking these days. i see another yellow eye in her near future.
and then there's this guy, who during bath time on friday night decided that he has been and always will be the king of this castle. making himself at home on the sofa.
as if this photo doesn't say it all. someone thought she could be helpful while daddy was viewing some scans at home yesterday. banging away on the laptop keys. daddy said he wasn't envious of that aspect of my co-worker.
another favorite toy is the lens cap off my camera. i have to be sure to take it off and leave it elsewhere before bringing my camera out or it becomes a part of every photo. last week i lost it for a day or so in between the sofa cushions because someone "needed" it while i was taking photos of something. likely her.
right before being attacked by the girl. she loves her mama. i've trained her well.
and tonight...
we brushed the teeth - both of them - for the first time. is that bad? regardless, she acted like we had done it a million times before and seemed rather bored with it. and of course, you can hear me taking photos with my other camera in the background. i've become quite the pro at two camera photo/video taking. perhaps i should petition to make it an olympic sport?
only she could pull off wearing pants like this and make them look cute. because really, we know you won't see this mama sporting anything similar any time in the near future.
this is so her right now. climbing to get to what she wants. the stairs. the hearth of the fireplace. on top of my leg if i'm sitting next to the coffee table so she can reach just a bit further for something i've taken from her. and yesterday, it was standing on a pillow i put in front of the entertainment center so she wouldn't turn on and off the dvd player so that she could see the television just a little bit better. because you know, the view two inches higher is so much better.
someone decided that valentine's day meant that she didn't have to take naps. and that continued until this afternoon when she finally slept for an hour and a half. but i digress...
so yesterday afternoon we headed out to borders on a quest for our valentine's books. thinking this might have to become our thing as it was great. no extra fuss, everyone got something that they wanted. here's what we ended up with :
we read this during bath time tonight. i don't think i'd ever read it before. very cute. and loved that i could sign many of the animals through it.
c's other book. lots of fun animal noises. good times had by all.
my love/hate relationship continues. i was intending to get a knitting book to start a new project for c but decided at the last minute to get this instead. and proceeded to make our ultimate romantic dinner of chili cheese fries from it. and they were super tasty. andy's at the gym working them off as we speak. c's even looked through it a couple of times because of the photos. i'll definitely be making more from it soon.
andy's pick. he was in the economics section for awhile - blech! - but went with this in the end. i was a big john grisham fan at the beginning but haven't read something from him in a long time. i'm sure i'll try and read this one when he's through. or perhaps before he gets a chance as he's studying for boards.
andy's claimed the girl as his valentine so it looks like i'll be cuddling up with the thomas. the only drawback is that when i cuddle with the girl i'm not covered in fur afterwards.
two peas is thrilled to be offering an exclusive workshop with shimelle laine that starts this sunday, february 15th. you'll also get class examples from kelli crowe, nichol magouirk and jen johner and digital work from tia bennett.
i've seen what shimelle has up her sleeves and this looks to be a great class - plus i love it when someone else has already laid out the groundwork for a project - especially an album! - for me and i can just follow the prompts. for additional workshop details and to register click here.
thought i'd share a few pages i completed recently - a minor miracle in and of itself...
kelly was so kind to ask me to create a layout for the basic grey newsletter using one of their sketches. used some of my favorite c photos. can't believe these were from july!
and then that horridly red santa photo. tried to tone it down with some pink. i swear i own more pink scrapbooking supplies now than i ever dreamed were ever even made. when in doubt - choose pink, right?
gearing up for valentine's day tomorrow. thankful that andy is off this weekend as he's worked the last two weekends. i told him we were starting a new tradition where everyone was getting a book. we already got c two new dr. suess books for her collection and a new pink hoodie for our spring walks. i'm sure she'll get a few more treats as well. there's a new knitting book i want. andy will probably pick out something intellectual that nobody else would ever pick from the shelves at borders. and i'm going to try and con my way into a new cookbook as a book for "both" of us. hehe
without the black heart leggings pictured when she was trying them on last week. it fits perfectly and was nice to find the perfect pink shirt already in her closet. lucky me. i mean, her.
here we're gearing up for the big birthday. i'm on an etsy shopping spree of sorts. dress - check. well, almost, i'm waiting for a custom listing that will include matching bloomers. invitations - check. well, i'm waiting on a custom listing for that as well because i needed a few more invites and wanted to change some colors. we're going for an all pink theme here. oh yes. because we didn't find out her gender before hand, this mama is going all out in pinkness. maybe i'll have to find a pink polo for daddy to wear for the occasion. think he'll go for it? hardly. but then again, for his baby girl anything is possible.
if the pointing doesn't help illustrate her personality, i don't know what will. you want to take my picture with this bear? okay. crack me up. and definitely an achievement - both her and the bear are in focus this month. i thought the monthly photo shoots would get easier as she got older. not really. instead she likes to see how fast she can get the glider in her room moving as that's what she's sitting in. a goregous day to celebrate being 11 months old. and hey, the girl at trader joe's gave her a (biodegradable) balloon as well. granted, it's because for some reason the girl didn't like her and started wailing and not because she too was thrilled that she was 11 months old today, but i digress.
at 11 months, camryn :
weighs approxmately 23 pounds. this was of course calculated by me holding her while standing on the scale and then subtracting my own weight. very scientific.
is constantly on the move. is table and sofa surfing as well as opening up all of the drawers on the coffee and end tables. very self-sufficient as she knows i keep a pacifier in one of the drawers and she just helps herself. not because she needs one, just because she knows it's in there.
wakes up between 7 and 7:30a and is asleep by 8a. she's still super content to play and babble in her crib for a half hour before wanting out. she has officially worn out the batteries on her mobile as it's running very slowly at the moment, not that she seems to mind. she also ripped one of the shades over her windows this week messing around in her crib. was daddy mad? of course not. mama's going to replace with roman shades that can't be destroyed.
waves and points at absolutely everything. if you're really lucky, you get the two handed wave. seriously a social butterfly. at swimming last week, she'd go under water and come out waving at daddy who was sitting poolside. nice.
knows the sign for fish and will do it when we walk by the tank. will also occasionally do the sign for light, after i do it.
whenever she hears music, she'll sway back and forth dancing. often to her toys or a commercial or something random in the background. loves it when i join in on the fun.
weekly activity : swimming. she's 5 months younger than the other two kids in her class but does amazingly well. she loves being in the water.
has started sticking her mouth in the water during bath time, tongue and all. i'm trying to teach her how to blow bubbles.
continues to be a champion eater. she can put food away like nobody's business. when she's done eating, she'll start throwing food on the floor.
favorite food = cottage cheese. i never give it to her at the beginning of a meal or she'd never eat anything else. about mid-meal, she'll point the fridge and let me know she wants it. heaven forbid if we run out. i might not survive that wrath.
is eating seven times a day, although this passed week i cut out a feeding and replaced it with a snack. all was well and didn't seem to phase her whatsoever.
so hard to believe that i need to be planning a birthday part for a month from today. sigh.
