weekly scrapbook layout : 5.7.11.

 

 

two layouts created this week means that i'm once again up-to-date on my layout a week quest for the year.  both layouts are with photos from 2009, crazy to look at photos of C that little and with so much hair and compare it to L at the same age now.  and with so little hair.

both of these layouts were created for elle's studio.  this was my first week in my new position as a blog contributor for them and i'm loving it.  elle is amazing.  the scrapbook industry never ceases to amaze me with the amazing people it includes.

a breath of fresh air.

 

finally - FINALLY! - it felt like spring had arrived today.  after L's morning nap, we packed up and headed off for an impromptu trip to the zoo.  hands down the best free activity in town.  something i'm sure we'll miss when we move.  the trip totally set the mood for the rest of our day.  everyone was happier after having some fresh air and it seemed to make thing run more smoothly.

this was just outside the ape house where you can't take your strollers in.  this was the first time L had been inside as last year  i never felt like waking a sleeping newborn to take her in.  hopefully she forgives me when she's older for jipping her out of a year of looking at the monkeys.

 

the three giraffes had apparently started sparring recently so they had been seperated within their enclosure.  i told C that they had been naughty and couldn't play together and she talked about it for the rest of the day telling me how naughty they were.  she does the same thing when i say something about her cousin reese being naughty...

hands down the best part of our visit was the carousel ride - L's first carousel ride.  well worth the $3 for all of us to take a few spins.  one mama getting two girls and herself on a carousel - quite the feat.  i wasn't able to see L's facial expressions while the ride was in process so it was fun to see photos that i had managed to get by holding the camera out in front of us. 

 

 

the only down side to the outing?  C told me i made her sad that when it was time to leave i didn't allow her to go tell each and every animal in the zoo goodbye.

yes, i know.  it's really tuesday...

andy's parents were visiting us this weekend and we were lucky to have them stay an extra day.  that really should read, they are so incredibly awesome as they watched the girls while i had lunch with a friend and a massage.  seriously, i don't think i've done something like that ever.  and i only felt a tiny bit guilty.

this week's menu is all about simple.  since i feel like i'm playing catch up today, simple is the name of the game and tonight's dinner came about with what i already had on hand before heading out to get groceries.

monday : turkey burgers.  a favorite of all of us, except for C who ate the requisite peanut butter and jelly that you get in this house if you don't care for the meal that is being served.  not really a big deal as she loves peanut butter and jelly.  with strawberry jelly.  andy's dad was manning the grill as andy was late getting home.  so nice to have two extra pair of hands around!  note : papi doesn't have two pairs of hands, but rather nana was playing with leighton while i was doing dinner stuff in the kitchen.

tuesday : salsa chicken nachos.  instead of serving on rice, i shreded the chicken and served it on tortilla chips topped with cheddar cheese, additional salsa and plain yogurt.  yum!  couldn't have been easier and i almost always have the ingredients on hand.  will definitely be making this again. 

wednesday : skillet stuffed peppers.  i have a couple of peppers leftover from last week in the crisper that need to be used.  a perfect meal for andy and i.  the girls will likely eat leftovers.  usually one night a week, we eat together after the girls are in bed.  nice to actually have a 1-on-1 conversation while we eat.  a dinner-in date night of sorts.

thursday : coconut beef.  a new one to try this week as i was flipping through my make it fast, cook it slow cookbook.  stephanie rarely steers me wrong, so we'll give it a go!

friday : pizza.

so glad that i was able to get a layout done this week as i'm now a week behind again.  ugh.  that means i'll just have to get two done this week.

i think i could title most layouts about C with this same world.  crazy girl.  she loved seeing these photos of her younger self and proclaiming that she was being naughty.  funny to look at these now as i don't even purchase these types of bags now unless absolutely necessary.
