i looked a little something like this. and was hoping, hoping, hoping that miss C would arrive on this day so she'd have a special birth date. i remember it being a friday. and i also remember that she decided to wait seven more days before coming into the world.
today, four years later, found me dropping said miss C off at preschool, a trip to target with miss L and then a doctor's appointment for me and baby #3.
oh what a difference four years makes.

hello big baby belly! feeling very large as of late. and not surprising that at my last appointment earlier this month my doctor measured me at four weeks bigger than i actually am. but really, is that truly shocking to anyone given how large miss L was?
i'm comfy and have no real complaints. this baby makes my belly move like there is an earthquake anytime i sit down to do some computer work. yesterday thomas was laying half on my belly - so condusive to getting work done! - and he would not be disturbed by the baby. it was hysterical to watch.
so much the carbon copy of my other pregnancies which makes me think girl, but truly i haven't a clue. with the girls i had a gender dream with both and i haven't had a single gender dream with this baby. can't believe we'll be parents to three (or five counting the furry boys) in three months.

it seems that a couple of recipes always get bumped due to our ever changing schedules, but that's just another advantage of menu planning. i then have meals for additional days than originally planned. no problem at all.
meatless monday : quinoa + black beans. one of the recipes we didn't get to last week. looking forward to trying it tonight as it got rave reviews from a friend last week.
i've selected monday as a night of the week for our family to eat a meatless meal as it tends to be more budget friendly as well as a friendlier option for the environment. my meat and potato eating husband tends to go along with this idea because i also make him a yummy dessert in addition to his meatless meal. what can i say, i'm nice like that.
tuesday : beef + broccoli. the second recipe that got bumped last week. another new one that i'm hoping we can add to our rotation.
wednesday : turkey stuffed peppers. peppers were on sale and i originally bought them for skillet stuffed peppers but then remembered i had recently pinned this recipe. opting for the healthier route even though i'm getting the evil eye from my husband for doing so.
thursday : honey sesame chicken. this looks good! and it appears we're going for a week full of new recipes. no complaints here!
friday : pizza. thanks to papa john's i have a coupon for a free pizza that needs to be used. an easy way to end the week.

country club chicken. finally got this one one the table! it got a thumbs up from all four of us + my sister-in-law who joined us for dinner that night. i actually could've eaten it without the chicken as it makes a LOT of food.

i've had this week done except for the insert which i didn't get done until friday. glad to have another layout in what has become our coffee table book as are the girls who have become the biggest fan of this project. love having a specific place to tuck in the little bits and pieces of our everyday.

the girls' beloved aunt cuckoo arrived in town on friday afternoon, but this time to stay. we're lucky that she now only lives about five minutes from our house. i managed to to snag a photo with my phone as they caught a glimpse of her coming up the sidewalk.
to say that they're excited would be a bit of an understatement.

a few months ago, i asked if any of my canadian twitter friends had ever heard of this magazine. why, you ask? i had just received an e-mail from them asking if i'd be interested in selling the copyright to one of my photos for use in their march 2012 issue. after getting a few more details, i said yes and on saturday, the issue landed in my mailbox.
so very cool to see a full page photo of L's nursery in print. also so very ironic that in a couple of weeks, the room will be getting a revamp as we move the girls into a room together to make space for the arrival of baby number three. fun to see which things have changed and what has remained the same. L loved pointing out things in the photo - "my books." "my elephant." "my bed."
thanks so much to julia, the associate home editor at chatelaine, for the amazing opportunity. this issue is definitely a keepsake for our family.
now i need to figure out if i can subscribe to the magazine living the in the US. serious eye candy happening within those pages.

three new recipes to try this week, one of which i've been trying to get on the table for the past two weeks. we'll see what happens this time around!

wednesday : breafast casserole. a family favorite. and perfect to make in the morning and then put in the fridge until it's time to slide it into the oven. paired with fruit, it'll be a perfect breakfast for dinner meal.
thursday : beef + broccoli. a new crockpot dish to try. C will be thrilled to see one of her favorite veggies as the star or a main dish. her daddy? maybe not so much.
friday : easy lemon chicken. we tried this for the first time a few weeks ago and there weren't any leftovers whatsoever. looking forward to having it again.

i might not be able to finish the rest of the work that remains on the to-do list for the kitchen transformation, but that doesn't stop me from accessorizing, right?
back in the day before children and before moving here, i was an interior designer. as such, i find i'm incredibly picky for things for my own house. this of course drives my husband crazy. for example, we haven't had a rug under the dining room table since oh, about june. and the rug that was there? a pieced together 9'x6' rug of six large carpet tiles. first i was going to use a grey indoor/outdoor rug and paint my own design on it. inexpensive and something that would withstand the amount of food that ends up under the table from my children. especially the oldest one.
i went as far as purchasing the rug but soon decided that perhaps we'd go sans rug so that i could easily clean the floor each day. that's what we had been living with for the past 6+ months. the grey indoor/outdoor rug was regulated to the basement and is used by andy to cover the concrete floor when exercising.
and then, in the last few weeks i started obsessing about rugs again. because really, i'm not such a big fan of that vinyl flooring we currently have. (note to pre-children self : you should've replaced the first floor flooring with wood while you had the chance!) but then again, rugs aren't a cheap purchase and i wanted to make sure i found something that not only worked in this house but wherever we end up next as well.
i thought i had found something that would work - even if it wasn't really my style - but of course in the size that i wanted they were out of the colorway that i needed. so i checked and checked the site multiple times a day for a restock with no such luck. until one day i spied a thumbnail photo of THE rug. the right size, the right colors, my style and just a bit more than i had originally planned. but it was perfect and with a coupon code and a rebate it actually ended up being a few dollars cheaper than my original plan.
the first photo is a view from the kitchen - you can tell that duke and thomas are also in love with the new floor covering - which showcases it the best as you don't get the crazy amount of light in that you do with this view from the living room. and yes, it BARELY fits. as in, my husband thought i was insane for purchasing it when he helped me haul it into the dining room last night. (even though he should know better by now than to second guess my design decisions!)
and a closer look. with just a minimal amount of curling on one end which is amazing given that it's an 8'x'10' rug. love, love, love it. also love that the design only has the white diamonds down the center of the rug where they are least likely to get splattered upon. genius!
and just to clarify... the girls are not allowed to sit at the table and eat until the new protectors that i ordered for under their chairs arrive tomorrow. not that they mind in the least. they spent the first part of the morning playing under the table as they thought it was so comfortable under there.

another week documented and into the album. thinking i've finally figured out how i like to put things together. limited supplies, handwriting only. i have a small three drawer container that holds all of the supplies i like to use and simply shuffle through everything to find things that coordinate with the photos and stories i'm telling.
