besties.

Mb 628

i continue to believe that adopting another cat has been a great thing for our family.  likely because duke is the friendliest thing ever.  especially when we adopted him at age three and bringing him into our family when leighton was just nine months old.  unlike the grumpy first child of our family, sir thomas, who really likes only his mama.  if he ever cuddled up to one of the girls like this - or anyone else for that matter - i'd likely faint.

and what were these two besties up to?  they were watching the cooking channel.  this is camryn's activity of choice before heading up to nap.  you can tell your child has enjoyed many an episode of giada when she's using words like "moise" and "tender" when cooking up dishes in her play kitchen.

wordless wednesday : hello costco.

Mb 627

so thankful for the ginormous carts at costo that are big enough for three kiddos and various sundries.  including the girls' beloved gummy bunnies.

oh captain, my captain.

Mb 626

last week we began the final leg of andy's journey through residency.  HELLO YEAR 7!  that means that he's co-chief of the service with the other resident that started the same year.  bring on the chaos i say.

i was telling the girls last week that daddy was going to be chief and for some reason, camryn started calling him captain instead.  and now andy says he prefers that title instead.  i wasn't able to get a photo of him yesterday as he got home later and my attention was focused on getting carson fed before bed time.  so instead, a photo of captain adorable will have to do.  my love of plaid shows itself again.

i'm lucky that both of my guys are pretty adorable.  although i don't think i'll tell andy that anytime soon.

here's to an amazing last year...

a literal handful.

Mb 624

i'd be lying if i didn't say that these two have been a handful the past couple of days.  oh, okay so really a week.  changes in routines, getting used to new schedules and oh yes, the new baby in the house.

hoping things settle down a bit this week.  so ready for a fresh start.

project life | week 19.

Mb week 19 1

today i'm sharing week 19 of my project life album over on the BasicGrey blog as part of our what a week series.  this month is a combination of our what's up collection + stamps from our friends at Hero Arts.  love how it came together so effortlessly.

head on over for your chance to win the products that i used this month!

and now, post-baby, i'm hoping to get back into the swing of things regarding project life.  i have two weeks of photos printed and in protectors so i just need a few spare minutes to work on it.

wordless wednesday : brakes.

Mb 620

on saturday night, i took camryn and carson for a walk after dinner.  well, camryn decided she wanted to ride her bike and although she hadn't biked in the neighborhood before, we gave it a whirl.  it worked great as we kept the same pace and we could chat at the same time.

the best part?  i was able to teach her how to use the brakes on her bike while we were out.  previously she'd simply throw her feet on the ground or ride into the grass.  on the way home we had to turn on a street that is basically all down hill.  after just a few attempts, she had it down and was pretty proud of herself.  i was a pretty proud mama, too!

and my missing third child?  yeah, she was at home at the dining room table refusing to eat the required two bites on her plate.  she's a stubborn one, that girl.

handmade.

Mb 618 1

we're so lucky to have friends and family that have made each of our babies amazing handmade gifts.  the fact that someone takes the time out of their hectic schedules to make something never ceases to make me feel so incredibly blessed and lucky.

although you can't see much in this photo, this is carson's quilt from his nana.  andy's mom has made a quilt for each kid and the girls use theirs on a daily basis as they stay in their chairs in the living room.  they're often a part of forts, covering stuffed animals and recently they've become table cloths for their small table.

my aunt has also made each baby an afghan.  i'm super lucky as she always ask for my color preference to match their rooms.  this time i mixed it up a bit and asked her to use three colors in the ever popular chevron pattern.  which ironically, my mom has one quite similar to from when i was younger in the gorgeous shades of brown, mustard, avacado green and burnt orange.  love it's chunky texture and how it matches his room so well.

daddy to three.

Mb 617 1

his first father's day as a daddy to three.  also our first attempt to get everyone ready and to church.  he opened his gifts from everyone before we headed out.

everyone thinks she looks like him.

the oldest and his bff.

the littlest and the one i had most fun dressing this am.

Mb 617 4

because every two week old needs a plaid button down, sweater vest, khakis and dock shoes.  who said dressing boys wasn't any fun?  i may have just a bit of an addition to plaid at this point.

today's adventure : storytime.

Mb 614

so this week i had already taken our crazy circus on the road to target and to get groceries.  today's adventure?  storytime.

camryn was less than thrilled when preschool ended for the summer but the one thing that had her beaming from ear to ear was that she would now be able to go to storytime again.  we love the children's librarian at a library on the other side of town so i made it my mission to get everyone dressed and out of the house so we could get there on time.  and we did.  the girls had an amazing time and carsons slept through the entire thing.  i enjoyed it as well and jotted down two of the books that were read as future gift ideas.

i guess if i'm going to be completely honest, this is where i should mention that breakfast for the girls and i consisted of a granola bar and water but we hit the mcd's drive through on the way home at 10:32a for a super early lunch.

what can i say, we're shaking things up a bit!

wordless wednesday : getting groceries.

Mb 613

it's funny how the thought of doing an everyday errand becomes an exercise in critical thinking as you add more children to your family.  today's task?  groceries.

with a large cart and snacks for the girls we made it through unscathed.  although apparently i didn't get the memo that i should've been wearing my shades inside the store.  or that it was hello kitty t-shirt day.
