project life rewind : week 28 | 2012

what 1

This month, I chose to document week 28 of 2012.  Having a baby last year threw me off track of staying “caught up,” so I have grand plans for this year.  I’m hoping to stay current for 2013 and do one week for my 2012 album as well.  We’ll see what happens!  You know, because I'm only working on packing up all of our belongings and moving this year.

what 2

It’s crazy how much older my children look than they did just six months ago.  I wish I could make time slow down just a bit!

[Left Page]  Muffin Tin Monday.  Dance class.  Sleeping baby.  Our oldest furbaby.  Skyping with daddy who was out of town on a business trip.  First baby smiles.

what 5

Freckled Fawn’s washi was an amazing addition to this week’s layout as you can do so much with it!  In just these three smaller cards, I used it three different ways.  On the photo of my oldest daughter at dance class, I used it as a background for my Micro Monogram alphabet stickers.  (For the record, you need no other alphabet stickers for this project but those.  LOVE them.)  For the card highlighting a quote from our younger daughter, I created a border of washi which helps lend a pop of color to a simple white card.  The third card features the washi as a way to adhere my photo to the patterned paper.  Super easy.

what 3

[Right Page] Toddler attitude.  Breakfast smoothies.  Dressed for church.  A quote and text.  First tomatoes.  Saying goodbye to friends.  Talking to daddy on the phone.

what 4

Likely my favorite part of this week’s layout is this card.  I loved the combination of the gold airmail Freckled Fawn tape paired with the Lucille Title sticker.  A perfect pair.

what 6

The Lucille Be Silly clear stamps are a great choice for weekly layouts.  So many options to dress up your photos and journaling.

And so there's another week in the 2012 album.  Loving this journey.

project life | week 40.

Skipping ahead for this month's What A Week feature on the BG blog and chose to document the 40th week of this year – just a few weeks ago!  I’m actually two plus months behind on documenting our weeks this year so I love that this week really documents what my life is currently like right now.  This month we paired BG's Serenade Collection with stamps by my amazing friend Kelly Purkey.

[Left Page] Four month well baby check-up.  The Met Life blimp.  PreK craft project.  Story time nametag.  Afternoon bike ride.  Monthly photo of all three kiddos.  A favorite toy.

Kelly’s October stamp is the reason why I skipped ahead to document a more current week in my album.  This stamp is also perfect to document your life in July 2013 – yes, I checked.  Simply cover the October with stickers and you’ve got the perfect calendar for that month as well!

My four year old’s handwriting is an ever evolving masterpiece.  I wanted to include her name tag from storytime this week and easily did so by simply trimming a sheet of paper from the Serenade 6×6 Paper Pad to fit this pocket and creatively cropping the name tag itself.

Kelly’s Magic stamp was the perfect match for this photo of my daughter riding her bike under these bright autumn leaves.  I actually used the stamp on the back of tag that was tied around the stamp’s handle.  A great repurpose of product packaging!

[Right Page] Craft time after breakfast.  A walk on the trail.  Post-nap snuggles.  4 month photoshoot.  Date night.  Our weekly Target trip.  Tiger fans.

I love using stamps for my weekly layouts as they’re so easy to customize.  Kelly’s Field Notes stamp and a strip of paper provided the perfect embellishment for this photo.

I love the Serenade alphabet stickers and how three different alphas are included on a single sheet.  I paired one sticker with a sticker from the Serenade Titles stickers for an easy embellishment for my son’s monthly photo.

project life | week 26.

I've done two other weeks that I need to photograph as well - two weeks fnished last weekend! - but this is the week that I chose to document this month for BasicGrey.

I remember that this was the week that I conquered taking all three of my children out and about by myself for our usual schedule.  It’s funny that now it’s old hat to me so I love that I’m able to look back and see how far I’ve come and how easy it’s become now.

[Left Page] A trip to Costco.  Instagram shot.  Dress up.  Playgroup.  Hot weather.  Storytime.  The two four year olds of the house.

Love, love, love how easy this week’s title card was to put together.  I used a sheet from the Soleil 6×6 Paper Pad and a few embellishments and the finished product looks like it took a lot longer than it did!  I swear that paper was made for this project.

As I mentioned before, these two lines coordinated so beautifully.  Hands down my favorite products that I’ve put to use thus far in this album.  Love that Details Flag stamp from Elle’s Studio as well as the BG Soleil Vellum Tape Stickers.  If you haven’t tried the stickers yet – what are you waiting for?  They’re great as they can be used just like washi tape but they’re thicker like vellum so the quality is amazing.

One of my favorite pieces from this week.  The perfect marriage of BasicGrey and Elle’s Studio product.  Even with a dark photo – it’s so hard to photograph a black cat!  I used one of Elle’s Sweet Life Large Journaling Tags as a base, added my photo and then used the Soleil Alphabet Stickers to create a vertical title.  I love the alphabet stickers for my weekly layouts as it has three different alphas on one sheet, all of various sizes.

[Right Page] Tummy time.  Reading in the closet.  Book delivery.  A quote.  Nightly walk. Church clothes.  A Skype session.  Love from an aunt.

Another favorite from the week.  Those 4×6 Sweet Life Large Journaling Tags make the perfect base for Instagram shots!  My obsession with the Soleil Alphabet Stickers continued with a title and monogram here as well as a pennant from the Soleil Die Cut Shapes.  I’ve come to believe that when you limit the amount of product you’re working with each week, you actually tend to be more creative than when you have your entire stash at your disposal.  That’s what I enjoy about this series – attempting to show you how BasicGrey coordinates with other products to create a cohesive layout.

I loved the small stars from the Soleil Die Cut Shapes and used them all on this layout. A photo needed an extra something?  Those stars were the perfect finishing touch!

I also enjoy being able to house all the random quotes that my daughters say in this album – here I used a tag from Elle’s Daily Note Tags set.  I know that if I weren’t doing weekly layouts, they would never be recorded.  I can only imagine how fun they will be to look back on in the years to come.

project life | week 22.

This month, I chose to document the 22nd week of this year – the last week of May.  Even though I’m about three months behind – note I had a baby three months ago and I’m using that as my excuse! – I absolutely love the end result of having each of these weekly layouts in an album to document our daily lives.

[Left Page] First time smores.  Suggested baby name.  Grocery receipt.  The weather on the date our third child was born.  A mama/daughter date at Starbucks.  Fun with raspberries.

Probably my favorite piece of this weekly layout – a combination of BasicGrey's Paper Cottage collection and Marcy’s Simple Vol. 2 journaling cards.  So easy to put together and the colors worked so well with one another.

A close second on my favorite part of this weekly layout is this journaling card containing a quote from Camryn on what we should name our third child.  I love the dotted alpha included in thePaper Cottage alphabet stickers as they really make a statement when outlined with a black pen.

To add journaling to this photo pocket, I used a die cut and personalized it with our Let Them Eat Cake stamp set.  Stamps are such a great product to use in weekly layouts as they can easily be personalized using whatever color of ink you’d like.

I chose to use another of Marcy’s journaling cards to hold a grocery receipt for the week.  I personalized it by cutting a small circular sticker in two and placing them on either side of the card title.  Easy!

[Right Page] Pregnancy stress test #2.  A trip to the library.  Tags from new baby clothes.  A bag that was attached to the bottom of a balloon.  A birthday party attended by our oldest daughter.  Colleagues of my husband that visited us in the hospital.

You don’t always have to include embellishments within the pockets of your weekly layouts.  Here I chose to use a Paper Cottage Flair Sticker on the outside of my page protector to embellish tags from the first boy clothes I washed without adding extra bulk to the actual tags.

[Insert - Front] The birth of a child definitely deserves an insert!  I wanted to uses minimal embellishments to maintain focus on the photos.

Creating a personalized title card for my insert was easy using one of Marcy’s journaling cards and the Let Them Eat Cake stamp set.  I love that banner stamp and can’t wait to use it on other projects as well.

[Insert - Back] Yet more hospital photos.  I like that using an insert with a certain number of spaces forced me to select only my absolute favorite photos from the hospital.

The girls refer to Andy's sister as their Aunt Cuckoo (long story).  I embellished this photo by trimming one of the Paper Cottage Titles Stickers to size.  The sticker had a small bird on it which was perfect for what I was documenting.

I used another Paper Cottage Flair Sticker to embellish the photo of my son in his carseat before heading home from the hospital.  I thought the “Fly Free” sentiment was fitting and love how versatile these stickers truly are.

So glad to have another week done and excited to hopefully start another week soon.

project life | week 20.

Bg 727 1

week 20.  just about 8 weeks behind but hoping to start getting caught up and adding project life back to my weekly routine.  trying to tackle the backlog of photo editing so that i can get started.  for this week, i used BasicGrey's clippings collection for the BG blog's week by week series

It’s crazy to look back at these photos of a very pregnant me now that I have an eight week old baby.  That’s one of the reasons I love this method of scrapbooking.  So many great bits of life are contained in each weekly spread.

[Left Page] An impromptu weeknight dinner out.  A baptismal birthday gift for my daughter.  My daughter’s first slush.  A trip to a local dairy farm and creamery.

My title card for this week.  Can I tell you how much I loved using the Clippings Alphabet Stickers for this project?  They always seemed to be the perfect finishing touch as there are three different sized layouts on one sheet.  Love how they all coordinate for such a cohesive look.

This collection also perfectly coordinated with this label from a bottle of milk we bought on our trip to a local creamery.  I simply cut a piece of paper to fit the slot of the page protector, added the label and then selected a border sticker for the top and bottom.

this is where i'll also note that apparently our "city" children didn't realize the milk they drink every day comes from a cow.  how is that possible?!  instead, they weren't too sure of the milk we purchased since they knew of it's origins.  they now refer to the white drink as "cow milk."

[Right Page] A trip to the park for playgroup.  A date night stop for funnel cake.  Crazy hot weather for Wisconsin in May.  Documenting my daughter’s love of french toast.  A photo of me on my due date.  My daughter’s redeeming prize tickets at a local restaurant.  Planting flowers on our deck.  My husband and daughter napping.

This collection made it easy to simply grab a sticker or two and personalize each piece of my layout.  Here I used not only stickers, but also stamps and a piece of our Snippets pad to document this Instagram photo of my love of funnel cake.

meant to get this up last tuesday but other things got in the way.  i was doing so well with being almost current and then my printer ran out of ink so i'm now a couple of weeks behind again.  hoping to be closer to current at the end of the week unless this baby decides to arrive earlier than my master plan.

Mb 515 3

[left page] the first round of baby laundry. two quotes from C [probably my favorite part of this whole project is the random things that she says.].  a 36 week belly photo.  the girls playing with daddy.  another photo of L at the ob's office as we wait for an appointment.

Mb 515 2

[right page] L transitioned to a cup.  the girls loving to bring the bins back to the garage each week on trash/recycle/compost day.  gorgeous flowers from a friend.  a twitter quote about how large this baby likely is.  a note from nana to the girls.  the girls dressed for church.  a trip to costco with aunt cuckoo.  new dress-up clothes from nana.

still continuing to love this project.  event with how chaotic this year will be, it actually means that our life is getting documented more as opposed to the occasional layout.  our 2012 will likely be documented via project life and baby #3's baby book.  and i'm okay with that.

Mb 424 1

[week 13 - with inserts] can i first say i'm beyond excited that i completed three weeks for my project life album last week?  week 12 which i shared last week and weeks 13 and 14 which i'm sharing today.  it's my goal to complete weeks 15 + 16 this week.  here's to lofty goals!

this was the last of birthday weeks - thank goodness!  you can tell that my album is getting a bit lop-sided due to inserts.  this week i included an insert with andy's birthday cards and another insert documenting his actual birthday.

Mb 424 2

[week 13 - without inserts] i didn't notice until now that the lower right hand photo of the spread slipped out of the protector a bit when photographing.  oops!

Mb 424 3

[week 13 - left side] the girls playing outside.  a piece of mail addressed to the girls from nana.  L catching an episode of pbs at one of my ob appointments.  (there are MANY of these shots in this year's album.)  a grocery receipt.  a photo of the caller id of our landline from andy calling to say he was on his way home.  bath time.  going through the car wash with the girls - apparently it's very entertaining.

Mb 424 4

[week 13 - right page] the infamous bagel tomb preschool craft.  a playdate.  a trip to target.  the girls working on their computers.  C in the palm sunday service at church.

Mb 417 1

[with insert] i have grand plans for project life this week.  week 12 is now finished and in the album.  i also have photos printed for weeks 13 + 14.  hoping to be close to current by the end of this week!

Mb 417 2

[without insert] this is the first week that i didn't feel like i had enough 4x6 photos to complete my spread.  instead of photos, i opted to include our menu for the week, a drawing from C and a larger journaling card.

Mb 417 3

[left page] our dinner menu for the week. new artwork from C that documents her current phase of drawing rainbows each and everytime and also her new "style" of people.  the girls' yearly check-ups.

Mb 417 4

[favorite] my favorite part from this week's spread was this health check journaling card.  the base is an OLD card that i had in my stash that i believe is from my mind's eye.  add some alphabet stickers and another smaller journaling card and it was perfect.  on either side, i had taken photos of the girls' height and weight with my phone from the sheets we brought home from the doctor.

Mb 417 5

[right page] C writing her birthday thank you notes.  a field trip.  my perscription for the meds i took for bronchitis.  a quote from L.  the girls having fun with their aunt cuckoo.

Mb 417 6

[insert front + back] photos from an overnight trip andy + i took to chicago.  lots of yummy food.  two trips to ikea.  a huge spa in our suite (amazing living social deal).  mucho dinero spent on tolls.
